Your child's first visit to Kids R Us Dentistry in Calgary, should be a special appointment where our dentists teach them all about oral health and help them feel at home with our team.
We recommend finding a "Dental Home" for your child by the time of their first birthday or at the sign of their first tooth. Before their appointment, we encourage you to speak to your child about their upcoming dental visit.
Depending on their age, we suggest reading a book that helps explain what will happen during their appointment or you yourself can explain their appointment in language they will understand.
To help ensure their first visit is as seamless as possible, we recommend filling in our new patient form in advance of their visit and bringing the completed form to their appointment. Please note - when it comes to payment, we do not offer direct billing.
During their first visit, our primary goal is to make their time with us enjoyable and positive!
We encourage parents to accompany their children in the treatment room during the initial examination to ensure they feel comfortable.
Once your child is a bit older and feels comfortable entering the treatment room alone, we recommend parents remain in reception during treatment so we can establish a closer rapport with your child.
Our goal is to gain your child's confidence and help them overcome any apprehension. However, if you choose, you are more than welcome to stay with your child in our treatment room.
For the safety and privacy of all of our patients, other children who are not being treated should remain in the reception room to enjoy our play area with a supervising adult.
