Good Food To Eat | Kids R Us

Utilize Canada's Food Guide

Encouraging your children to sample from each category in Canada’s Food Guide every day is a good way to increase how much healthy food they eat:

  • Vegetables and fruits
  • Grain products
  • Milk/dairy and alternatives
  • Meat/fish/eggs and alternatives
Creating meals with these food groups in mind, and helping your kids develop great daily brushing and flossing habits, will go a long way towards preventing tooth decay and other oral health problems.

Healthy Snacks Options

  • Yogurt (avoid flavours with extra sugar added)
  • Fresh vegetables or fruit, with a healthy dip such as hummus
  • Cheese and cheese snacks
  • Popcorn
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Savoury sandwiches
  • Unsweetened cereals
  • Corn on the cob
  • Water between meals instead of juices or carbonated drinks

This list is not exhaustive. Your pediatric dentist and family doctor can help you build a great nutritional plan for your children, even if they’re fussy or have food allergies.
